Tunnel books Steps Day 1

Objective- create a 3d tunnel book using your knowledge of foreground, middle ground and background that highlights the Art Deco movement.

1. Google search Art Deco style- email Mette your favorite image that shows Art Deco style



2.       Complete planning sheet (digital using SketchbookX or hard copy sheet)
Plan a frame (one page) of the tunnel book for each 
       Background- the furthest away (this will be your sky)
 Middle Ground- below the horizon line (this will be your city skyline of buildings)
 Foreground- the closest (this will be the closest city skyline of buildings)

Think: To get a 4 on this project I would like you to have a frame with something hanging it can be stars, the moon, the sun, snowflakes etc. If you are adding this you will need 4 total frames. 

3. Complete a materials request sheet (email or hard copy sheet)

1.       Use rulers measure a 1 inch border
2.       Cut out 3-4 rectangular frames for each scene & add design
 
3.       Draw or trace the scene for the foreground, middle ground and background
4.       Cut out each scene
5.        Fan fold 2 pieces of paper for the sides


6.       Work backwards from the background sheet and glue the frames to the side of the fans (assemble sheet)

Lastly- Self assess using evidence sheet

Cubism Guitars Steps

Assignment: create a drawing of a guitar and transform it using Picasso's cubism style. 
Materials: white paper, pencil, instrument tracing sheet (if needed), color pencils, oil pastels, markers, ruler 
 Lesson introduction: Picasso & Cubism post 
 1. Outline, trace or draw guitar in pencil

















2. Use ruler to dissect the image

3. Color pieces of image using cool monochromatic colors













4. Fill out rubric

Picasso Cubism

Cubism was one of the most influential visual art styles of the early twentieth century. It was created by Pablo Picasso (Spanish, 1881–1973) and Georges Braque (French, 1882–1963) in Paris between 1907 and 1914. Below are images of guitars that Picasso created in the cubism style.

Directions: After watching the Rap Battle of History research and answer the following questions using the websites listed (or google).  You can either write the answers here or email me the answers amie.mette@inwoodacademy.org

1.      Who is Bob Ross?

2.      Who is Pablo Picasso? Include 3 facts about him.

3.      In the battle why does “Picasso” call himself MC Dali, who is Dali?

4.      In the battle “Ross” tells “Picasso” he must be on his blue period, what is Picasso’s Blue Period?

5.      In the battle why does “Ross” call himself Jackson Pollock, who is Pollock?

6.      In the battle “Ross” calls “Picasso” a Rubik cubist, why did he say that instead of Rubik cube?

7.      In the battle “Ross” says he is "dropping bombs like Guernica”, what is Guernica?

8.      In the battle “Ross” mentions cadmium yellow and titanium white, why?

9.      Use the information to decide WHO WON? Explain.

10.  Research Picasso’s paintings write the title of your favorite and why you chose it.

Longest line step 1

Rules: The line has to fill the whole sheet and you may not pick up your marker from the sheet! The line may not hit or cross itself. And, the most important: the line has to end at the point it started. So be sure you're back in the beginning in time!

1. Start in a corner and draw ONE line, the longest line: curved, straight, zigzag, with angles etc. 
2. Draw with a pencil three or four geometric shapes on your sheet. 
3. Choose three colors marker per shape and color them. 
4. Outline your shapes with a thin black sharpie.

Think about COLOR, STYLE, and DESIGN. The lines should be short and build up to a larger design. Remember this is abstract art so it does not have to look realistic.

1920's Artist- Norman Lewis

Norman Lewis is an African American abstract artist from the 1920s. He was part of the art movement called abstract impressionism. Click on the websites below to answer the online scavenger hunt questions about his artwork and and the abstract impressionism movement.
